Whether fair or not, you get all of 30 seconds to make your first impression on someone. You might be the most qualified candidate, the most charming hostess, the best person for the task. If you fail to capitalize on those critical first few seconds, however, you may not get another chance.
So what’s the best way to make those moments count? From The Art of Manliness, here’s a short list:
- Appearance is important
- Offer a firm handshake
- Focus on the other person by showing that you’re interested in what they have to say
Incidentally, this blog offers some outstanding advice on what it means to be a gentleman in society in the 21st century. For the guys, you could learn a lot by regularly reading the site’s articles. Ladies–you don’t have to settle for a loser. Spend some time at The Art of Manliness and raise your standards. I think this site is so valuable, in fact, that I’m adding it to my Google Reader subscriptions and listing it in the blogroll.
