The 281 Books Project

27 May 2008

My childrens’ elementary school conducted its annual recognition assembly today.  My kindergartner and second grader walked away with "star student," math, and spelling awards.  They both received "homework party certificates" for completing the entire year’s worth of nightly homework.  Most notable, however, may have been my son’s recognition as the "top reader" in his kindergarten class.  This school year, he read* 281 books.  Sort of puts my 50 Books Project to shame.  Way to go, son!

*When I say that he read 281 books, I really mean that he had 281 books read to him by me, his mom (my wife), or his big sister.  Still, it all counts.
