Dan Pink Discusses Johnny Bunko in Chicago

28 May 2008

I continue to recommend Dan Pink’s The Adventures of Johnny Bunko to just about all the young people I know. It’s such a quick, easy, and helpful (not to mention entertaining) read that it’s hard to pass up. The book is a great conversation starter about the nature of work and career, an extremely useful resource for those just about to begin college or graduate.

Dan has been on a breakfast tour to meet readers interested in the book and Johnny’s six lessons. One reader showed up to the Chicago breakfast last month with a video camera, recorded the conversation, and posted it to YouTube. The interview is split into 12 segments and will take a little over 40 minutes to view in its entirety. Dan gives some insight into how he arrived at the six lessons Johnny learns, talks about how those lessons have applied in his own work experience, as well as the choice of manga as the book’s format and its role in the future of publishing.

  1. Michael —
Many thanks for recommending the JOHNNY BUNKO book others. Much appreciated. This is how unconventional ideas spread — one smart person talking to another smart person and so on and so on. Thanks again.
    Cheers,
    Dan Pink

  2. Thanks, Dan, for stopping by. My brother-in-law doesn’t know it yet, but he’ll be getting a copy of “Johnny Bunko” as a graduation gift. I’m interested to see how the conversations develop once he’s read it.
