Lindsay Boughton Design

My colleague Laura Myers had done some print design for Lindsay when the subject of a new website came up. We worked with Lindsay to create a Squarespace website that showcased the beautiful work she’s doing for her interior design/decorating clients in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.

Among many other things, the project included a persuasive home page design optimized to encourage visitors to respond to her free consultation offer, compelling copywriting for her Service and About pages, a helpful lead generator PDF to encourage visitors to join Lindsay’s email list, and an automated relationship-nurturing email campaign to follow the lead generator.

How does an ambitious economic development organization in a small town attract business attention?

With a message aimed directly at entrepreneurs who want to grow, then showcasing that message on a well-designed and helpful website.

We primarily worked with the Lincoln Economic Advancement and Development, LLC (LEAD) board on this project. Andrea Runge, the LEAD CEO, was hired near end of the project and helped bring it home.

The project included logo and branding design by Laura Myers, persuasive copywriting built on StoryBrand framework, and a Squarespace website.

Squeaky Clean Window Washing, LLC

Derek Ried didn’t have a website for his central Illinois window washing business—but he knew he needed one to give it a professional look and grow his business.

We created a simple, one-page site with persuasive copy for Derek that features a lead generator sales funnel to get prospects on his mailing list. The funnel is fully automated, so Derek can build relationships with prospects without taking away time from serving his clients.

Ketos2You, LLC

Maureen Jones, the owner of Ketos2You, LLC in Wilsonville, Oregon, came to us through a referral. A friend had set up a basic Squarespace website for Maureen, just to get her started. But the homepage design didn’t fit with the site’s interior pages, and the site lacked a clear, compelling call to action to visitors.

We worked with Maureen first to identify her ideal client so she could communicate the right message to them. That led a strong, simple marketing message: “Lose weight, gain confidence, feel better.” We then wrote the copy and designed an attractive, effective new homepage—which also included a new logo created by my colleague, Laura Myers.

Douglass Financial Services

Small businesses of all kinds need to market themselves well—even if they’ve been established for 30 years. Douglass Financial Services, with offices in Pontiac and Bloomington, Illinois, was long overdue for a website overhaul.

Laura Myers and I worked with the Douglass brothers to create a visually appealing Squarespace website that would work as a solid small business marketing tool. This meant designing a home page that would encourage visitors with a strong call to action as well as a lead generator to get them on the mailing list. We emphasized clear communication throughout the site, particularly on the Services and Contact pages. Lastly, a completely new approach on the About page—with professional photography—establishes credibility and builds trust.

See the case study on the blog.

Terra Mattson

A second Squarespace website project with author Terra Mattson. With input from Terra’s publisher, David C. Cook, Laura Myers and I designed the site around Terra’s activities as an author, podcaster, and keynote speaker.

We added several features to encourage interaction: opt-in forms to invite visitors to join Terra’s Mailchimp list, podcast and Instagram feeds on the home page, and a photo gallery with text overlays that display when visitors hover over an image on the About page. For additional marketing impact, the site uses Squarespace’s announcement bar and promotional pop-up to help drive visitor action. As we’ve done with other clients’ projects, we also wrote and edited copy to make the site more visitor-focused.

Right Angle Solutions

A Squarespace website project for Laura Kreid, a professional organizer based in Evanston, Illinois.

Laura Myers Marketing and I worked together on this site: Laura conceived the new home page design and managed the project while I put the pieces together in Squarespace. Laura Kried’s old website lacked some essential marketing features so we made sure to design them into her new site: clear calls to action (CTAs), clarity in her offerings, a blog with comments, and building trust with customer testimonials and quotes. In addition to creating the visual look of the new site, we also wrote copy aimed at Laura Kreid’s ideal customer.

My Courageous Book by Terra Mattson

Laura Myers and I redesigned this one-page site for Terra Mattson, a counselor, author, and speaker in the Portland, Oregon area.

Terra’s book Courageous: Being Daughters Rooted in Grace was due for an updated edition so the publisher needed her website to be updated as well. Laura tweaked the visual look (compliant with the publisher’s requirements) and I created the design in Wordpress.
