Intelligence vs. Empathy

Confession:

I used to think the key to success was to learn as much as I could.

This would help me become the smartest guy in the room.

And being the smartest guy would lead to opportunities.

Looking back, this was stupid.

First, only one guy can be the smartest guy, and there’s a lot of competition.

(Plus I learned I don’t have the horsepower to be the smartest guy—oh well.)

Second, people are impressed with your intelligence and learning only up to a point.

What also matters—probably matters more—is empathy: being able to see the world through someone else’s eyes.

As a writer and business owner, this is critical. You connect with your audience when they see themselves reflected in the words you write.

I’m still devoted to learning. But now I know caring is just as important.

Do the words on your website, emails, social posts, and ads show that you care?

Schedule a call today and let’s talk about getting you a clear, caring message.
